Guest blogging

Partner with The Everyday Explorist as a Guest Blogger

Oh hey, fellow bloggers. Thanks for dropping by our Guest Blogging page. If you’re here you’re hopefully 1) a travel blogger or writer and 2) looking to partner with another awesome blog to share your expertise and grow your exposure! If that sounds like you, let’s talk Guest Blogging with The Everyday Explorist

What is guest blogging and why should I do it?

Guest blogging is where you write a post specifically to post on a blog other than your own. While it may seem counter-intuitive to spend your limited time writing for another blog, guest blogging is an awesome way to get your content in front of an entirely new audience. By sharing a brilliant guest post, you’ll inspire new readers to follow you and grow your influence!

Aren’t we competitors though?

Technically, sure. Honestly though, we are all about uplifting and helping other creators around here. Blogging material is so endless, there’s plenty of room for us all to kill it. We would love to build a mutual partnership because iron sharpens iron and all that.

What content are you looking for?

United States travel is what we do here. Within that category, there are plenty of content ideas we’re looking to explore.

Specifically, we’d love to get our readers content in areas we’re not experts on. We will consider guest posts on all U.S travel topics but we’re particularly looking for content on:

  • West Coast Travel and beyond—destination guides for cities in California, Oregon, Washington plus Hawaii and Alaska.
  • Sustainable Travel. As travel increases, so does our worldly footprint. Would love expert advice on how travelers can implement more sustainable travel practices!
  • Adventure Travel. Are you a rock climber or white-water rafter? Cool! We’re not. Would love guides on how to get super active while traveling!
  • Winter travel. Are you an expert in cold weather winter travel? We need you, because Miranda spends her winter days huddled under warm blankets with hot cocoa in hand. We’d love your best winter travel advice for those weirdos who want to do actual winter stuff in winter.
  • City Guides-We are always looking for detailed guides on how to visit new cities including what to see, eat and do in XYZ city. Extra credit for little-known cities or small towns our readers have yet to hear about!

Original content. Blog posts cannot be a re-post of one of your previously written posts. The post must be an original creation, and you agree to only use it for the guest blog post.

Relatable and budget friendly. Our readers are average folks, so no yacht parties or VIP experiences you had because of someone fancy you know. Think of the kind of stuff that the everyday person could do tomorrow.

Do you compensate for Guest Blogging?

We do not currently have a budget to pay for guest blog contributions. Our guest bloggers can add links to related blog posts on your own blog to encourage a following. In addition, we’d be happy to use our socials to promote your article with us, as well as your blog

Do you have any style guidelines for submissions?

We try to be low-maintenance partners, so keep our asks to a minimum. One of our favorite things about the blogging community is the many different perspectives, expertise, and voice we all have. As a guest blogger, you are bringing your expertise to our readers in your own voice. We don’t want you to sound like us; we want our audience to get to know YOU! Also, if we approve a collab it’s because we like your blog. We won’t micromanage you with a million re-writes. We will ask you to work with us on reasonable edits to ensure the post meets our standards. Our other asks include:

  • Blog posts should be at least 2,000 words please. Anything less feels too short to provide the level of value we seek to provide for our audience.
  • Posts should have a clear point of view with lots of details. Your blog post should truly help our audience so including links, addresses, hours, details of services provided, what you loved etc. are the kinds of things our audience is seeking.
  • Include a bio and tell us about you! Why are you an authority on your topic and what is different about you? This is your opportunity to sell yourself, your brand, your POV. Give our audience a reason to follow you and don’t forget to include your socials!
  • Include photos. All our posts utilize a collage format. Ideally posts will include a minimum of 6 but ideally more like 10-20 photos so we can create Canva photo collages for your post to keep our feel consistent. Original stuff please, we’re not copyright infringers.
  • Add relevant links. Remember, our goal is to provide value to our readers. Providing lots of direct links for our audience key. If you mention something, it should pretty much be linked.
  • A little lighthearted humor or snark doesn’t hurt 😊 We don’t even mind the occasional swears, but let’s just keep it mostly nice and not crazy offend anyone, ok?
