Disclosure Policy

Welcome to the not-at-all dull page we are legally forced, uhhh we mean, super excited to share regarding disclosures! Our 5 second version goes something like this: we are not professionals, just regular people with business partnerships giving advice you don’t have to take that we may profit from. Come hang out, but please don’t sue us. Lawsuits are annoying. That’s pretty much the gist.

We’ve included a far more complicated and wordier version for you below because…we’re not sure why. Probably because the powers that be are more likely to feel we’ve educated you if the disclosure is long and legal(ish) sounding. So, let’s have some fun and talk about disclosures!

General

The Everyday Explorist (also: “we” “our” “us” “the blog” “theeverydayexplorist.com” “the/our website/site”) is run by regular people who are not travel professionals. The content on our site is provided for general use and educational purposes only. No information provided here should be construed as professional, financial, tax, medical or other advice. Information on this site is our opinion only and should be treated as such. (they’re solid opinions though, just saying). Our content is not a substitute for professional advice of any kind.

Please humor the time we took writing this compelling disclosure by reading it in full before visiting The Everyday Explorist. By using the Everyday Explorist site, you agree to abide by the terms of the Disclosure Policy, the Privacy Policy, and our Terms of Use. We strongly encourage you to read the fine print if you want to know what you are agreeing to. I mean, who knows what kind of weird stuff we’ve buried in this thing?  Failure to read these exciting disclosures does not absolve you of abiding by them. If you have read the terms and cannot comply for whatever odd reason, you’ll need to leave for one of those rebel bloggers with no rules. (We get it, we hate policies too) …

Intellectual Property & Permissible Use

Unless noted otherwise, all content on this site is owned by The Everyday Explorist. All work is protected by international copyright, trademark, and other proprietary rights laws. Our site is provided for the personal and non-commercial use of our audience. Any attempt to use content from this site for your own commercial benefit is prohibited. This means you may not reproduce, copy, alter, redistribute, repost, sell, or otherwise represent the content here as your own or for your own commercial purposes. As an exception, you may print, download, or save content for your non-commercial personal use only. Basically, be a turd: don’t rip off our work and/or try to make millions off it, please. Okay, great, thanks.

Third Party & Affiliate Disclaimer

The Everyday Explorist does partner with outside third parties including other businesses, blogs, and websites. Occasionally we work with businesses as affiliates or through doing sponsored posts. No, we haven’t sold our souls. We do, however, agree to work with local businesses to review and promote their hotels, products, and/or services in exchange for financial compensation, cool merch, a place to sleep, super cool comped experiences and/or fancy drinks.

As an affiliate, many of the posts on this website contain affiliate links. Love a post we made promoting a specific product? Awesome! The best way you can say thanks is by clicking the link to purchase in our post, which allows us to make a teeny tiny commission from that item at zero cost to you. Isn’t that cool? We love, love our readers who help us out by purchasing through our links. We also participate in the Amazon Associates/Influencer Program which allows us to earn affiliate revenue by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. Because who doesn’t loooove Amazon, right?

The Everyday Explorist is dedicated to providing our readers with objective information and reviews. If you’ve ever met Miranda, she just isn’t capable of anything else. She’s bitingly candid with opinions about literally everything she is physically incapable of keeping to herself. She pretty much created this blog for the sole purpose of being able to tell everyone what she thinks about everything all the time. Orlando: hubby, resident tech support guru, fellow explorer and editor is here to help make Miranda’s opinions slightly less irritating. And to occasionally share his own on the rare occasion his wife shuts up long enough to make that possible. Err, tangent. Sorry.

All opinions here are our sincere, honest thoughts. Our goal is to help you go to cool places and do cool things. If a hotel in Nebraska wants to contact us because they know they’re awesome and are sure we’ll think so too, sweet! If said hotel was awesome, we’ll give you 452 reasons to visit and shout it from the rooftops here and on our socials. If businesses want to pay us to help promote their awesome city, eat their weird food, or hit up their polka festival, we are here for it.  The compensation we receive does influence whether, for example, we’re going to write about a bug farm; however, it never influences what we actually write about said bug farm. Sponsor us at your own risk, partners!

The Everyday Explorist will always let you know if a post is sponsored in big, bold letters, highlighted, and underlined, or in a similar obvious fashion. We will never seek to hide a sponsored post in any way. We want our audience to fairly evaluate our recommendations on all merits, sponsorship included.

Despite our affiliate partnerships, we only promote products we feel we can recommend to our audience in good faith. Any products or services that are recommended are done so based on our personal experience and preference. Our audience is encouraged to consider our advice and recommendations but should always do due diligence before proceeding to purchase any product, service, or experience.

Additionally, while our website includes affiliate links for our audience, we have no control over and therefore no responsibility for any site other than The Everyday Explorist. All external sites have their own policies, practices and are responsible for any information and/or service they provide. The Everyday Explorist will not be held liable in any way for any damage or dissatisfaction from working with a third-party vendor. If you have a crappy experience working with a partner of ours, we want to hear it as it may influence our recommendations in the future. Feedback can be shared by email at theeverydayexplorist@gmail.com

This affiliate disclosure applies to all affiliate links shared by The Everyday Explorist on our blog site, socials, via email and any other form of communication.
